One of my absolute favourite parts about this time of year is the different makeup looks that you get to try out. Instead of sticking with a bronzey matte eye, I love switching things up with golden shimmers. Whilst I wouldn’t call myself adventurous with my makeup, when it comes to Christmas, I definitely like to mix things up. My go to look this time of year is a golden eye and complexion, with a nice subtle lip. Of course, if I were heading out for the evening, I would probably partner the eye with a bold red but in the day I like to keep things pretty neutral.
When it comes to my makeup, I have a pretty similar routine no matter what products I am using. I always start with a medium coverage foundation and work my way up from there. Now the big thing for me when it comes to Christmas is not just the eyes but the highlighter. We all know I am a highlighter junky all year round but come Christmas I go full out. I have one highlighter that has served me well for the past two Christmas’ and will continue to do so this year. The L’Oreal golden highlighter is no stranger to my blog. When I dug it out of my collection last week to do this makeup look, I immediately fell back in love as it is gives the perfect golden glow. As I partner it with a shimmery golden eye, everything balances out really well.
L’Oreal seems to be the real star of the show on my blog as it is a brand I can just rely on and their products never let me down. Along with their highlighter, I also used one of their single eyeshadows ‘Golden nude’ all over my eyelids. This is the perfect Christmas colour for me and it is packed with pigmentation. As my transition shade I used ‘Eden’ from Stila and then deepened the outer corner and lined the eyes with ‘Gilded gold’ and ‘Ebony’ from their ‘In the light palette’.
What I love about this Christmas look is the fact that it has the sprinkle of colour and glitter that you want but it is also super bright and neutral. If I am honest, I think this is an all round Christmas look, which can be switched up with a lipstick. Partnered with a nude lipstick such as ‘pillow talk’ from Charlotte Tilbury, it is perfect for the day but with ‘711’ from Urban Decay is the perfect night on the town look.
I really wish that the camera could have picked up just how gorgeous this eye look is! If you are on the hunt for a golden Christmas eyeshadow then I would 100% recommend ‘Golden nude’. Unfortunately, the highlighter is no longer stocked so I am holding onto mine for dear life. Therefore, I won’t be lending this to any of my girlfriends this season!
