Okay so it is officially the countdown to Christmas! I am well aware that it is not yet December but we are now less than a month away until the big day and to me that is reason enough to start celebrating. Anyone who knows me knows just how much I love this time of year. If I am completely honest, the run up is my absolute favourite part about Christmas and I fully intend on soaking it all up. Not to mention, this is the first year in forever that the run up hasn’t involved endless deadlines and essays. So yeah, this year I am ready to start celebrating early!
One of my absolute favourite parts about the run up to Christmas is all the winter festivities that take place. One of my favourites being outdoor ice-skating. For some reason, I find outdoor ice-skating one of the best things about this season, especially when it is done in the evening. One of the major parts of the Bath Christmas market is their ice-skating rink. Surrounded by glow in the dark mini-golf and wood burning pizza, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my evening.
Unfortunately, this romantic Christmas evening was turned into more of a slip and slide thanks to the British weather. As most outdoor ice-rinks lack a roof, if it rains, you are pretty much screwed. As you can imagine, as I am not the most elegant of creatures, I left the rink rather wet. This did mean that mini-golf and pizza had to go a miss, which really was disappointing. However, I very much imagine we will be heading back quite soon considering how close the rink is to our house. Regardless of the weather bringing a halt to our evening, we still had a perfect time with friends.
