My morning 2 step makeup routine

We all know those mornings when we just continue to snooze the alarm. All of sudden we wake up in a panic with only 20 minutes until we need to be out of the door. This happens all too regularly for me and at the moment I really have no interest in waking up early to do a full face of makeup. Instead I now have a 2-step makeup routine, which allows me to be out of the door on time whilst still looking pulled together.

Now the obviously the first thing I do is jump in the shower and do my normal routine. When it comes to sorting out my face I always make sure that I don’t skip on my skincare, especially when I am not going to be doing my makeup. It is honestly amazing, just how much my skincare makes my face look brighter and more awake. One tip I would say for this is to try and have a tinted eye cream so that it immediately reduces the appearance of under eye bags.

Moving onto the actual makeup. Now, I actually got the idea for my first step after watching Lydia Elise Millen and seeing her do something similar. In one of her videos she uses the ByTerry CC serum, which essentially works as an illuminator. Therefore, I had the idea to use my Estée Edit Flash illuminator to add a nice glow to my face. Although I have done this before, I have only ever used it underneath foundation so I have never seen the effects of it on its own. However, by applying two pumps all over the face, I am able to achieve a nice glow, which makes it look healthy and awake. Now obviously for this technique to work you don’t want to be using a blinding highlighter but rather a nice subtle illuminator. This way it will blend into the skin easily and will leave your skin looking nice and dewy.

The second step is very simple. I add a low coverage concealer in the inner corner of my eye. The inner lower corner of my under eye is pretty dark and something that I am quite conscious about. Therefore, this is the part that I want to add a bit of coverage to, just to further reduce the darkness. As I have already used a tinted eye cream, I only need to add a tiny amount. By only applying a small amount, I don’t need to set it with a powder but rather I leave it looking nice and dewy.

I would like to mention here that I now always have my eyebrows tinted thanks to Maybelline’s tattoo brow. If I didn’t have my eyebrows tinted however, I would turn this into three steps and fill them in!

So there you have it! My very quick and easy rushed morning makeup routine. Although I do try and give myself enough time so that I can add some mascara and a bit of bronzer, some mornings it is just not happening and this is all that I do!
