L’Oreal True Match ‘The One – Review

For quite some time now I have been a big fan of the L’Oreal ‘True Match’ concealer, so when they released their ‘True Match The One’ version, I had to give it a try. What I can’t seem to figure out or find anywhere is whether or not this is sister product to the original or a reformulation. Some clarification would be highly appreciated here. Regardless, I thought it was time for a review.

To be straight, I want to start by saying that I definitely prefer the original formulation. This is for a couple of reasons; firstly, I don’t think the coverage is quite so good, secondly, if you don’t set it correctly it creases like mad and finally, it stings my eyes!! I can kind of work around the first two issues, however I have never ever come across a concealer that actually stings my eyes just by placing it underneath. The only thing is, I can’t seem to find anything in the ingredients that would initiate this. I mean I have sensitive eyes but not that sensitive.

Anyway, I think I am correct in saying that this concealer is designed for the girl on the go. Therefore, that does explain the coverage. Whilst this concealer definitely brightens and makes you look more awake, if you are looking for something to hide those dark circles then this probably won’t be heavy enough. However, if you want a quick touch up to really brighten your complexion then this is perfect.

Now onto the creasing… I always like to give a bit of leeway to my concealer when it comes to creasing but to crease 30 seconds after application is a bit extreme. I’ve found this best way to apply this concealer is to blend like crazy, leave for 5 minutes, blend again and then set. By doing this, I have been able to stop creasing throughout the day. I simply apply and blend, do my brows and then blend and set. If I am honest, this doesn’t majorly bother me but it definitely wouldn’t cut it for a girl on the go.

Finally, the lasting power? I have to admit this is probably the best element of this product. It really does last all day. For a light coverage concealer, I was expecting for there to be virtually nothing left by the time I came to taking it off, however, to my surprise, I was wrong. If you set this concealer correctly, you are good to go for the rest of the day!!

My overall verdict; whilst this concealer is not my favourite, it certainly is not the worst. If you set it correctly, it will last all day with minimal creasing. However, I simply cannot get past the stinging of the eyes. I am intrigued to know if this is just me or if others have experienced this as well!
